"We had the content in our heads for years. They turned it into a course that 240 nurses completed in eight weeks." — Dr. Fiona Brennan, Director of Nursing Education, Midlands Health Network
That project started with a phone call in March 2024. By May, the first cohort was logging in. This is how we work: fast, specific, built around your learners rather than a template.
We build course experiences that people actually finish
Three years of designing, scripting and launching online and blended courses for Irish educators, health bodies, craft organisations and corporate teams. Below are two recent projects told in full, the capability map showing what we handle, and a short form to begin your own.
Case study: Midlands CPD nursing programme
Healthcare · Online · 6 modules · Completed April 2024
The Midlands Health Network needed a continuing professional development course for community nurses spread across five counties. Classroom sessions weren't viable because shift patterns meant no single day worked for everyone. They had rough PowerPoint decks, a 90-page clinical guideline, and a deadline: the course had to be live before summer rosters changed.
We spent the first week interviewing four nurses and two clinical leads. Those conversations shaped the six module topics and, more importantly, told us which parts of the guideline nurses actually struggled with on the ward. Module three, for instance, focused entirely on medication reconciliation at discharge because that was where errors clustered.
Each module combined a 12-minute narrated walkthrough, a scenario quiz, and a downloadable reference card. We recorded audio with one of the clinical leads rather than a voiceover artist. Learners said this made the content feel trustworthy rather than corporate.
The course ran on Moodle, which the Network already had. We configured the instance, set up completion tracking, and built a reporting dashboard so the education director could see exactly who was behind. Completion rate across the first cohort: 89%. The national average for similar online CPD sits around 55%.
Case study: Connemara Craft School blended programme
Creative education · Blended · 4 modules + 2 in-person days · Launched September 2024
Connemara Craft School teaches weaving, ceramics and printmaking from a converted schoolhouse outside Clifden. Their weekend workshops sold out, but they had no way to reach learners who couldn't travel to the west coast. The founder, Maeve Ní Dhomhnaill, wanted an online component that didn't dilute the hands-on ethos of the school.
We proposed a blended model: four online modules covering materials science, design principles, colour theory and tool maintenance, followed by two intensive in-person studio days. The online portion used short video demonstrations shot on location at the schoolhouse. We filmed Maeve and two other tutors working at their benches rather than talking to camera. Each video runs between three and seven minutes.
Learners submit photos of practice pieces through a simple upload form. Tutors leave voice-note feedback within 48 hours. This asynchronous critique loop replaced a written assignment model that Maeve felt was too academic for her audience.
The first cohort of 32 learners came from 14 counties. Twenty-eight attended the studio days. Satisfaction scores averaged 4.6 out of 5, and the school has since opened a second cohort with a waiting list.
What both projects share
Neither client had a learning designer on staff. Both had deep subject-matter knowledge but no experience structuring that knowledge for independent learners. Our role was to extract, organise, and present their expertise in a format that worked without a live instructor standing in the room.
We don't sell a platform. We work with whatever technology a client already has or can afford. Moodle, Teachable, Thinkific, WordPress with LearnDash, even a simple website with embedded video and downloadable PDFs. The pedagogy matters more than the software.
Every project starts the same way: a conversation about who your learners are, what they need to be able to do after the course, and what you already have that we can build on. We charge a flat project fee agreed before work begins. No hourly billing surprises.
Capability map: what we handle in a course project
| Capability | What this means in practice | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| Learner research | Interviews or surveys with 3-8 representative learners to define real needs, not assumed ones | 3–5 days |
| Curriculum architecture | Module map, learning outcomes per module, assessment strategy, sequencing logic | 4–6 days |
| Content scripting | Writing narration scripts, quiz items, activity briefs, reference materials from your source documents | 1–3 weeks |
| Video production | On-location filming of demonstrations, walkthroughs, or expert commentary. We bring a two-person crew. | 1–2 shoot days |
| Platform build | Configuring your chosen LMS or website, uploading content, setting up enrolment and tracking | 3–5 days |
| Pilot and revision | Running a test cohort of 5-10 learners, collecting feedback, revising before full launch | 2 weeks |
| Launch support | Learner communications, tutor briefing, first-week monitoring, bug fixes | 1 week |
Three pathways depending on where you are
Starting from scratch
You have expertise and an audience but no course materials yet. We run the full process from learner research through to launch. Most projects in this category take 8 to 12 weeks and involve 6 to 10 modules. Budget typically falls between €8,000 and €18,000 depending on video requirements.
Rebuilding an existing course
You already have a course that isn't performing. Completion rates are low, feedback is lukewarm, or the content has drifted out of date. We audit, restructure, and relaunch. Timelines are shorter because some assets can be reused. Expect 4 to 7 weeks and a budget between €4,500 and €10,000.
Adding a blended component
Your in-person teaching works well and you want to extend reach with an online element without losing the hands-on quality. We design the online-offline integration, build the digital modules, and help you run the first blended cohort. Usually 6 to 9 weeks, €6,000 to €14,000.
Why course completion rates matter more than enrolment numbers
Anyone can get people to sign up. A free webinar funnel, a discount code, a social media push. The hard part is getting learners from module one to the certificate. We track completion as our primary success metric because a half-finished course helps nobody and damages your reputation.
Design choices drive completion. Short modules beat long ones. Varied activity types beat walls of video. Peer interaction beats isolation. Deadlines beat open-ended access. These aren't opinions; they're patterns we've seen across 19 course projects since 2022.
When we quote a project, we include a completion target. If the first cohort falls significantly below that target, we revise the course at no additional cost. We've had to do that once, for a compliance course where the client insisted on 45-minute modules against our advice. After splitting them into 12-minute segments, completion rose from 41% to 78%.
